We meet with all prospective patients at our downtown Chattanooga, TN, practice for a consultation to discuss their goals for cosmetic dentistry and their treatment options. The best candidates for dental veneers have the following in common...

Good Oral Health

If you are suffering from tooth decay, periodontal disease, or anything else that affects the health of your smile, we will first correct those conditions before moving onto cosmetic treatment. If you have significant decay, we might recommend a crown instead to enhance the aesthetics and strength of your tooth.

Minor Cosmetic Flaws

Veneers are best suited for masking dental flaws that range from minor to moderate in severity. If you have more extensive misalignment or structural damage, we may recommend an alternative like crowns or orthodontics.

Long-Term Commitment

If your goal is to find a more permanent solution to cosmetic imperfections, dental veneers may be right for you. Other forms of cosmetic dentistry like whitening and dental bonding will simply not last as long. However, it is important to know that treatment requires minor alteration to your enamel, so you must be committed to periodic replacements every decade or so.

Veneer Treatment Timeline

Placing dental veneers typically requires two visits to our downtown Chattanooga office. Here is what you can expect during your appointments...

Tooth Contouring

During your first visit, our dentist will begin by preparing the selected teeth for treatment. This involves removing a very small portion of the enamel on the front surface of each tooth (about .5 mm or the thickness of an eggshell).

Next, we take impressions of your teeth with a special molding material to design your custom-fitting veneers. The impressions are sent to our trusted dental lab where skilled technicians craft the restorations to your precise specifications. In about two weeks they will be ready and we can schedule you back for your second visit.

Bond Prep

At your second appointment, our dentist will finish preparing the teeth by lightly etching the surface of the enamel. The etching increases the surface area and helps strengthen the bond between the veneer and the tooth.

Finally, our dentist will inspect the look and fit of each veneer against the teeth and make any necessary adjustments. When you are satisfied, we apply a special adhesive to the tooth and set the veneer into position. A UV light is used to cure the adhesive and expedite the bonding process. When it is done, you can leave the office with a brand new, stunning smile.

How Much Do Veneers Cost?

Veneers are priced individually and usually cost about $1300 to $1400 per tooth. While we understand that this is a significant investment, it is important to remember the value of treatment. Dental veneers last much longer than alternative procedures and the aesthetics appear natural. Get your personal estimate by scheduling a consultation at our Chattanooga practice today.
