A Closer Look at All-on-4 Dental Implants

All-on-4 is a sophisticated dental implant placement technique that maximizes the support from existing jawbone tissue. Instead of placing six or more implants straight down into the jaw, Dr. Armstrong secures your entire restoration with only four implants. Two of the implants are placed at strategic angles in the jaw to maximize contact with the remaining bone tissue. The resulting All-on-4 denture will function and feel just like your natural teeth.

Dental implants sound great.
But why should I choose the All-on-4 method?

All-on-4 Technique vs. Traditional Dental Implants

Avoid Preparatory Procedures

All-on-4 is an advanced treatment that uses fewer, strategically placed implants to anchor a full denture. As such, the technique can work even if you have sustained jaw recession. Rather than undergo invasive bone grafting to get standard implant-supported dentures, you can get started on All-on-4 treatment right away.

Save Money

By avoiding the cost of a bone graft or other preparatory procedure, for many patients All-on-4 dentures can be a more cost-effective option than traditional implant-supported dentures. Additionally, the fewer posts required for All-on-4 dentures can also help reduce treatment costs.

Get Results Faster

Traditional dental implant treatment is broken down into several steps over a four- to six-month timeline. All-on-4 treatment combines several of these steps in a single appointment, giving you results much faster. In many cases, our dentist places All-on-4 implants and attaches a full-arch restoration on the same day.

Steps of All-on-4 Dental Implants Treatment

When you undergo All-on-4 treatment at our downtown Chattanooga dentist office, we hold every aspect of your care to the highest standards. Here is what you can expect during your procedure.
For your comfort during implant placement, our Chattanooga practice offers several types of sedation dentistry.

Dental Consultation

Dr. Armstrong believes that preparation is key to achieving the best possible outcome. Your treatment will begin with a thorough consultation and a detailed planning process. He will use the latest technology, including 3-D X-rays, to evaluate your jaw and determine the best location to place your implants for maximum stability.

Unlike some dentists, Dr. Armstrong performs every step of treatment at our Chattanooga-area office. We will use local anesthetic to numb the treatment area. For your comfort, we offer several types of sedation dentistry, including IV anesthesia administered by our in-house Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).

When you are comfortable, we will create several incisions in the gums. The implants will be carefully inserted into the jawbone at predetermined positions. After each implant is placed in the jaw, the incisions will be closed.

Finally, Dr. Armstrong will secure a denture to the implants so you can leave with a fully functional smile. While this prosthetic is only temporary, it will still look and function just like your natural teeth. Once you completely heal from the procedure, you will return to get your permanent denture.

Your Recovery

The recovery for All-on-4 is less intensive than the traditional procedure because we place fewer implants. However, you can expect some downtime and mild side effects.

Over the next seven to 10 days, we will closely monitor your progress during post-op appointments to ensure you are healing properly. While it does take most patients a few days to adjust to their new dentures, most are able to eat and speak normally within a week.

If you have any questions or concerns while you recover, do not hesitate to contact our downtown Chattanooga dental office. Our team will be happy to assist you in any way possible.
